We built the app we kept failing to be.

MealWisp started as a shared frustration: an enormous folder of saved cooking videos, and a takeaway order every Tuesday. The gap between inspiration and dinner was never about motivation. It was about the fact that a 45-second reel is not a recipe.

  • Honest about sources

Every recipe says where it came from and that an AI wrote it out. An AI that passes its own work off as the creator’s is worse than no AI at all.

  • Fast enough to be boring

A recipe that takes four minutes to appear is a recipe you never read. The median extraction finishes in under a minute, and you can leave the app while it works.

  • Constraints, not suggestions

If you tell us you cannot eat gluten, that is not a preference the planner weighs. It is a wall.

  • Your library is yours

Export it, edit it, delete it. No lock-in, no ads, no selling what is in your fridge.

How it got here.

  1. 2025Two people, 3,000 saved reels between them, and one very unconvincing spreadsheet.
  2. Early 2026First extraction pipeline: transcription plus frame sampling, fused into one recipe.
  3. Mid 2026The planner ships. Recipes stop being a collection and start being a week.
  4. NowCalendar and shopping list, on iOS and Android.
