You're not short on inspiration. You're short on a recipe.

Short-form cooking video is the best food content ever made and the worst way to actually cook. MealWisp sits in the gap.

  • 1,400

    saved, none cooked

The folder keeps growing. The video is 45 seconds, the ingredients flash past in a caption, and by the time you're in the kitchen it's gone.

  • 6pm

    the daily blank stare

You know what you like. You know what's in the fridge. Somehow the answer is takeout again, for the third time this week.

  • 3 apps

    to make one dinner

Notes for the recipe, a calendar for the week, a list app for the shop. Nothing talks to anything, so you do the joining by hand.

Three steps to a recipe. The fourth is dinner.

MethodCook step by step
  1. Marinate chicken: soak chicken pieces in buttermilk with a pinch of salt and pepper for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare dredge: in a shallow bowl mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper.
  3. Dredge chicken: remove chicken from buttermilk, let excess drip off, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned flour. For extra crunch, double-dip by returning to buttermilk and flour again.
  4. Heat oil: fill a large skillet or deep fryer with vegetable oil to about 1–1.5 inches depth and heat to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry chicken: carefully add chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C), about 12–15 minutes depending on size. Drain on a wire rack.
  6. Make mashed potatoes: peel and cut potatoes, boil until tender, drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth; season with salt and pepper.
  7. Heat gravy: warm prepared gravy and spoon over mashed potatoes before serving.
  8. Make mac and cheese: cook elbow macaroni according to package directions, drain. In a saucepan, warm cream and stir in shredded cheddar until melted and smooth; combine with pasta and season to taste.
  9. Assemble and serve: plate fried chicken with a scoop of mashed potatoes topped with gravy and a serving of mac and cheese.

  1. STEP 1

    Share the link. Done.

Hit share on any Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube cooking video — or paste the URL into MealWisp. That is the entire interaction on your side.

  2. STEP 2

    It watches the whole video.

We transcribe the audio and sample frames to catch the quantities and temperatures that only ever appear as on-screen text. The two get fused into one structured recipe.

  3. STEP 3

You get a recipe, honestly labelled.

Ingredients, steps, timings. Every recipe says where it came from — the video, the photos or your camera — and wears an AI-assisted label, because a model wrote it out.

  4. STEP 4

Then cook it, one step at a time.

Cook mode shows one step in big type, with just the ingredients that step needs. When a step names a time, its timer is one tap away, and the screen stays on until you're done.

Capture on one side. Plan on the other.

Two halves that finally talk to each other: the recipes you rescue feed the week you plan, and the week you plan feeds your shopping list.

Reels in. Real recipes out.

It listens to the audio and reads the text on screen, then writes the ingredients and steps. Photo posts work too, and so does a picture of a cookbook page. Every recipe names its source and wears an AI-assisted label.
